District students to participate in the Science Engineering Fair of Houston

Winners of the 45th Annual District Science Fair will participate in the Science Engineering Fair of Houston, displaying their projects in Hall C of the George R. Brown Convention Center, as they compete for awards and scholarships from March 23 to March 25. Students will explain to the judges why they selected their topics of investigation and how they used the scientific method in their research as they formed and tested hypotheses.
Students in the secondary division entered projects in Behavioral/Social Sciences, Biochemistry/Microbiology, Botany, Chemistry, Computer Science, Earth/Space Science, Engineering, Environmental Science, Mathematics, Medicine and Health, Physics and Zoology.
Two grand prizes and two runner-up grand prizes were awarded secondary students
at the district fair Feb. 20. Thomas Markovich of Clear Brook High School
won the Jesse A. Dorrington 2006 Grand Award for physical science with his
project "Transmutation
Inducing Anomalous Hydrogen Production;" and Sinchan Banerjee of Clear
Lake High School won the Jesse A. Dorrington 2006 Grand Award for life science
with the
project “'SPONJ' The Educational Software Suite for
Cerebral Palsy Children.”
Students in the elementary division entered projects in Biological Sciences,
Consumer Sciences, Earth/Space Science, Mathematics and Physical Sciences
at Brookside Intermediate School at the District Fair.
