Lecture advises how to avoid scams

Discover how to avoid becoming a victim of scams as University of Houston-Clear Lake and the Clear Lake Association of Senior Programs presents “You Fell for That? How to Avoid Falling Victim to Scams” Nov. 8, 5:30 – 7 p.m. in the university’s Bayou Building, Garden Room.

Better Business Bureau representative Candace Twyman explains how to avoid becoming a victim to scams. Twyman has 30 years of experience working with non-profit organizations throughout the Houston community in the areas of gerontology.
The event is part of CLASP’s “Visions in Our Midst” Speaker Series. Admission is free and open to all. For more information, contact UH-Clear Lake’s Office of Alumni and Community Relations, 281-283-2021.

Fair offers variety of gift options

HOUSTONForget the crowds at the mall and shop for holiday gifts at University of Houston-Clear Lake’s Harvest Crafts Fair, which offers a wide variety of homemade candles, craft items, jewelry and furniture. The fair will be held Nov. 6-8, 10 a.m. – 8 p.m., in the university’s Bayou Building, Atrium II, 2700 Bay Area Blvd., Houston.
The annual event is sponsored by UH-Clear Lake’s Support Staff Association. Fair proceeds support SSA events throughout the year, as well as funds five staff scholarships that are awarded biannually.
